Mary Elizabeth Pope, age 93, of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024. She was born on September 2, 1931 to parents, William and Anna Moran (nee Welsh); Beloved wife of the late Gilmer Lewis Pope; Loving mother of Janice Canfield and husband James, and the late Wayne Lewis Pope; Cherished grandmother of Derek Canfield, and Ryan Canfield and his wife Kaitlin; and great-grandmother of Blake, Lainey, and Paisley; Dear sister of Mary “Pat” McKenna, Harry “Babe” Moran, William “Bill” Kotis, and the late Lawrence Moran and Barbara Ohl. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a beloved member of her family who cherished her time spent with loved ones. She had a particular fondness for strawberry ice cream, anything chocolate, and especially Ghirardelli chocolates. A true homebody, she enjoyed relaxing in front of the TV, often watching the Game Show Network, "The Price Is Right," and her favorite soap operas like "One Life to Live," "General Hospital," and "All My Children."
Her musical tastes were rooted in the classics of the 1940s and 1950s, and she took pleasure in the social atmosphere of the Moose Lodge. A perfectionist at heart, she maintained her home in pristine condition and loved cooking for her family, with special recipes for spaghetti, meatloaf, crab cakes.
She was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens and had a special bond with her Shih Tzu’s, Charlie and Raven. Her warmth, dedication, and love for her family will be deeply missed.
