Ruth Belle Seiss

Ruth Belle Seiss (nee: Powell), age 92, passed away on July 16th at her home surrounded by her family. Wife of the late Quentin A. Seiss from Thurmont, daughter of the late William and Myrtle Powell of Frederick. She was born and raised in Frederick and a 1940 graduate of Frederick High School. She wore, proudly, her basketball charm given to her by her High School Coach. She is predeceased by her siblings John Powell, Charles Powell, Virginia Seiss, Ernestine Trout, and Irene Theobald.

She moved to Baltimore in her early 20’s where she married and raised her family. She is survived by her children: Wayne Seiss and his wife Nancy of Millersville, MD; Donald Seiss of Thurmont, Jane Marks and her husband Tom of Ellicott City, and Susan Whitecotton and Keith Fields of Halethorpe, MD.

She was devoted to her grandchildren and was always involved and part of their lives-Heather Mix and her husband Rich, Jonathan Marks and his wife Rachael, Brandi Whitecotton and her fiancé Danny Wilderson, Brittany Whitecotton and Adam Fields.

She adored her four great grandchildren-Kathryn and Allyson Mix and Nathaniel and Connor Marks.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She loved children and was the mother and grandmother to many outside her family. Her home was always open and welcomed everyone. Her kindness, care and love touched many! She loved to cook, bake, sing and dance!

For the past 3 years she received wonderful care at home from her special angels!

Visitation will be held at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250

Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD on Sunday, July 19th from 3 pm-6 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel at Meadowridge Memorial Park on Monday at 1pm. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont, MD at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Halethorpe-Relay United Methodist Church, 4513 Ridge Road, Halethorpe MD.
