So Jong "Teresa" Lee

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of So Jong “Teresa” Lee, who died peacefully on June 11, 2025, at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with heart disease.

Born in South Korea, So Jong was a devoted daughter, a proud Korean woman, and a tireless provider. She immigrated to the United States with a heart full of hope and determination, eager to create a better life for the children she had yet to meet. With unwavering strength and resilience, she built that life from the ground up — guided by the values of hard work, humility, and family.

Of all her roles in life, the one she cherished most was being a grandmother. Her four grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she showered them with boundless love, time, and care. She beamed with pride at their achievements, big and small, and found renewal, purpose, and happiness in their presence.

So Jong is predeceased by her loving husband, Sang Soo, with whom she shared 50 beautiful years together.

So Jong is survived by her children, Linda and Laurie, and her beloved grandchildren, Taylor, Myranda, Lily, and Stephen, as well as her extended family and friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness, wisdom, and warmth.

Her legacy of love, sacrifice, and strength lives on in all of us. We will remember her in the meals she lovingly prepared, the lessons she taught, the traditions she passed down, and the quiet resolve that defined her every day. She gave everything so that we could have more — and we are forever grateful.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate So Jong’s life.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, MD 21075.

A traditional Korean Catholic Mass will follow on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Korean Martyrs Catholic Church, 5801 Security Boulevard, Woodlawn, MD 21207.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. (with arrival at 12:30 p.m) at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge. A wake will be held afterwards.
