Born on May 4, 1936, Bertha leaves behind a legacy of love for her family, friends, and loved ones in Scott County, Virginia, where she was raised; Ellenton, Florida, where she lived for over 50 years; and Kingsport, Tennessee, where she resided since 2008.
She attended Ellenton United Methodist Church while living in Florida and Kingsley United Methodist Church while living in Kingsport.
Bertha was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vanner Roman; dear friend, Tommy Rose; mother, Bonnie Carter McMurray Hensley; sisters Pauline Taylor and Drucilla McMurray.
Left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces and nephews, their spouses, and their children, whom she adored as her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including a special niece, Linda Walters, who served as her caretaker for the last few years.
A graveside service will be held at Mansion Memorial Park on Tuesday, January 30th at 11:00, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Vanner less than a mile from their home of over 50 years in Ellenton, Florida.
A celebration of life service will be held later this spring for Bertha’s family, friends, and loved ones in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia at Lynn Garden Baptist Church, where her great-nephew Andy Walters serves as Student Minister.
