

Diane was born on November 20, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Carmine (Dewey) and Josephine Menichini. She lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, faith, and devotion to her family and community.
Diane shared a loving marriage with her husband, Walter Weldon. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Christine Gerdes, and her son, Richie Weldon. She was also a cherished mother-in-law to Ron Gerdes and a proud and loving grandmother to Jordyn Gerdes and Madison Gerdes, who brought immense joy to her life.
She is survived by her siblings, Barbara Mannion and Ricky Menichini; her beloved niece and nephew, Robyn Notaro and Adam Mannion; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Diane dedicated much of her life to education and touched countless students throughout her career as a teacher in New York state at Bishop Dunn Memorial School in Newburgh, Beacon High School in Beacon, and Carmel High School in Carmel. She was passionate about teaching and caring for others, leaving a lasting
impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
After retiring to Florida, Diane remained deeply involved in her community. She was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where she found friendship and fellowship. She generously volunteered at Nearly New in Sun City Center and also volunteered at a local elementary school, always eager to help wherever she was needed. Diane was an active member of both a card-making group and a mahjong group, enjoying the friendships and creativity they brought into her life.
Diane will be remembered as a kind, caring, and selfless individual whose warmth touched everyone around her. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures — going on walks, crafting, knitting, reading, and most of all, spending precious time with her loved ones.
A funeral service celebrating Diane’s life will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
Her love, compassion, and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
