

Eleanor Arbutus Moore, 87, affectionately known as “Boo”, entered her Heavenly Home July 17, 2021 as the result of complications following an extensive surgery. She left us peacefully with her family by her side.
Born in Goody, Kentucky to Dicie and Fred Blackburn on February 15, 1934, she spent her former years in Pike County, Kentucky. She was a 1952 graduate of Belfry High School. As a Nursing student at Louisville General Hospital, she met and married the Love of her Life – Dr Andrew Moore on July 3, 1953. She was a dedicated wife and an asset to his Dental practice of 37 years in Ashland, Kentucky. “Boo” and Andy were members of the Presbyterian Church of Bellefonte and served many years on Mission Fields in Yucatan Mexico, and the US Virgin Islands, conducting dental clinics there. Upon retirement, and before moving to Florida, they enjoyed living in Morehead City, North Carolina and were members of Bogue Banks Baptist Church, in Atlantic Beach.
“Boo” was a devoted and loving Mother to their children, Andreah Wellman, (Steve), and Dr Stuart Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Ethel “Sissy” Stollings. In addition to her two children, survivors include three grandchildren, Heather Kardos, (Seth), Chris Wellman, (Angelica), and Brittany Cooper, (Jeff). Six great grandchildren, Charlie and Dylan Kardos, Stevie Wellman Roberts, Gabriel Cooper, Adella and Angel Lopez. She also leaves behind one brother, Buford Blackburn, (Lil), of Georgetown, Kentucky, Two sisters Charlene, “Chan” Jones, (Johnny), and Joan Scalf, (Dan), all of Lexington, Kentucky. A sister-in-law, Lorelle Moore, of Houston, Texas, and many loving nieces and nephews.
“Boo” will be remembered by her many friends in Palmetto First Baptist Church where she actively served her Lord. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 28, at the church. A one hour visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Her service will immediately follow. Dr Phillip Hamm, Sr Pastor, will officiate. Pall Bearers will be Steve Wellman, Chris Wellman, Dan Scalf, Seth Kardos, Dr Stuart Moore, and Walter “Johnny” Jones. Interment will be at the Sarasota National Cemetery at 2:00 pm with her Beloved husband, Andy, of 61 years. Arrangements are entrusted to Groover Funeral Home, Ellenton, Florida.
