George Elvis Phillips

George Elvis Phillips, 90, of Chesnee, SC went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Born in Ellenton, FL, he was a son of the late Paul Phillips and Lula Kennedy Phillips. George was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. He worked for over 40 years at Schlumberger EMR in Sarasota, FL. For many years in Palmetto, FL, George served the Lord as Choir Director and Sunday School Teacher at Palmetto Church of God, and was currently a member of New Harvest Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Leola McNeal, Ollie Stone, Iris Luke, Juanita Underwood, and Dorcas Wood; three brothers, Albert Phillips, Chester Phillips, and Wiley Paul Phillips; and a granddaughter, Jimi D’Lynn Sharrón Phillips.

George is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Helen Phillips; two sons, Robert Phillips (Shelayne) and Jeff Phillips (Sharon); twelve grandchildren, Nathan Phillips (Auna), Jared Phillips (Karen), Leslye Phillips, Raechelle Rodgers (Chris), Jefri Phillips (Rickbell), Brianne Vanderlip (Jamie), Kaylee Zimmermann (Zechariah), Josie Myers (Alex), Jentzen Phillips (Tara), Jene Phillips, Gage Phillips, and Cassidy Hubbard (Jake); and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to celebrate George’s life will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at New Harvest Church of God with the Rev. Robert Wells officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Ellenton, FL.

A graveside service for George will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Ave E, Ellenton, FL 34222.
