George Richard Sudol was 84 years old when he died the morning of July 10, 2024. He was born on April 15, 1940, to parents George and Angela Sudol in Brooklyn, NY. “Richie”, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, attended elementary school at Our Lady of Czestochowa Elementary School, Brooklyn, NY, and Fort Hamilton High School, Brooklyn, NY. He had three siblings: Barbara (Sister Barbara Sudol CSFN), Victor (Brother Ignatius OH), and Edward Richard.
At the age of 18, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Northern Italy during his active duty. When he returned to civilian life, he married Jeanne Tuccinardi of Valley Stream, NY in 1969. They remained married until her untimely death in December 2021. Their adopted son, Sean, predeceased them in 2020.
After leaving the Army, Richie worked at a variety of companies, including Brooklyn Union Gas, Honeywell, Babcock & Wilcox and United Airlines, from which he retired.
Over his lifetime, Richard and Jeanne lived in a variety of locations, including Valley Stream and Hollis, (Queens), NY, Sterling, VA, Lewes, DE, Ellenton and Tampa, FL. After his wife Jeanne passed away, he moved to Sun City Center, FL where he made many friends because of his outgoing personality. He loved to joke and entertain his listeners with his unique comments.
Richard’s health declined during the last few months of his life. In late June he entered St. Joseph’s Hospital and was released after a brief period, only to reenter days later in a worse condition than earlier. When it was clear that his health was not improving, he entered hospice at St. Joseph’s Hospital during the evening of July 9th. He passed away early the next morning.
He will be missed by his family and friends. May he rest in peace. As Richie would say, “fugetaboutit”…….
