Hugh Fleming, Jr., age 94, of Sun City Center died peacefully in his sleep on February 3, 2022, at LifePath Hospice Sun City Center, Hospice House. Hugh was born on March 23, 1927 to Annie Laurie Phoenix Fleming and Hugh Fleming in Detroit, Michigan. He was the youngest of four children, including his brothers James and John and sister Mamie (May Pearlman). Hugh enlisted in the Navy at age 17, claiming he was 18 in order to serve. He served in the Navy on the USS Biloxi in the Pacific for almost two years, after which he was discharged honorably. He married Jan (Jeanette) in September 1958. Hugh worked for the City of Detroit as a truck driver and a firefighter. He loved to dance, to laugh, and to make others laugh. Hugh is survived by three nieces—Laurie Anne Pearlman of Sarasota, Florida, Joan Fleming Inwald of Franklin, Michigan, and Carol Pearlman Frybarger of Muskegon, Michigan—his friend, Susan Chandler, the daughter of his dear friend Enid Stewart, and so many friends in Sun City Center whom he enjoyed.
