October 1, 1940 – June 7, 2025
John James Bernhard, 84, of Palmetto, Florida, teed off for his final round on June 7, 2025, surrounded by love and laughter just the way he lived his life. He was as unique as a two dollar bill.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, on October 1, 1940, John proudly served in the United States Navy before spending 40 years delivering smiles and mail as a dedicated postal carrier. After retirement, he traded in his mailbag for golf clubs.
John had a hip shake that would absolutely rival the King himself, especially when dancing at the Moose Lodge his favorite “19th hole.” He gave back to his community by volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul thrift store, always offering a helping hand.
He leaves behind a proud legacy: his children Johnny(daughter-in-law Ashley), Jacque, and Julie his sister Betty(her children), his grandchildren Kayleigh(grandson-in-law Rick), Marque, John(daughter-in-law Dani), Courtney, Hunter, and Mark Jr. and his great-grandchildren Carson, Cali, Connor, Cash, and Conway. The family tree he built is full of love, laughter, and rhythm.
He also leaves behind his cherished companion of the last three years, Yvonne, whose love and laughter brightened his days.
John is now reunited on the heavenly dance floor with his beloved wife of 54 years, Carole, who no doubt had a hand on her hip, and a “What took you so long, I've been waiting on my dance partner."
His Celebration of Life will be held on July 12, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Coach House Mobile Home and RV Park Clubhouse, located at 3004 49th St E, Palmetto, FL 34221.
In lieu of flowers, take a friend golfing, put on some Elvis, and raise a toast to a life well played.
