Larry was 71 years old and lived in Parrish, FL with his wife of 21 years, Donna. They had
plans to travel the country to visit national parks and enjoy their retirement together. Sadly, 6
days after Larry passed, Donna also passed. They had a life of love and adventure together.
Traveling with the kids to various destinations over the years and Larry would say " We're never
doing that again", which we all would laugh and say, "Ok, dad" and we would plan our next
trip.
Born in Baltimore, MD to Lawrence and Elfrieda (Weiss) Gross on August 24, 1950, at Sinai
hospital. He had a younger sister Sue. They shared a close relationship and enjoyed being silly
together. Sue followed Lawrencie, (as Sue called him) in death on September 15, 2021.
He was a much loved "poppy" to his grandchildren Ashley and Zach, and step grandchildren
Lindsey, Sophia, and Lincoln. He also became a great grandfather to Mya in July of 2020. His
grandchildren were his happiness and he enjoyed spending as much time with them as he
could. He was looking forward to watching them grow.
Larry graduated from Mergenthaler Vocational Technical School in 1968. Community College of
Baltimore from 1970 - '71 for Drafting Technology. Essex Community College 1979 - '80 for
Industrial Management, and Dundalk Community College for Micro Computer Application.
In November 1968 Lawrence joined the United States Air Force. He was an Aircraft
Maintenance Specialist for reciprocating engine aircrafts at Sheppard AF base, Texas. He also
was certified in Technical Publications at Sheppard Technical Training Center in Hurlburt, FL.
Unfortunately, due to family emergency, Lawrence was granted an Honorable discharge from
the Airforce in November 1970.
He had a career working for the paint company Bruining Paint in Baltimore as a plant manager,
where he made lifelong friends. He left Baltimore and moved to Florida to work for Scott Paint
which is where he stayed until he retired.
A favorite hobby and sport of Larry's was golf. He had a group of friends that he enjoyed going
on golf trips with to many courses along the east coast and was said to have an impressive
swing. He had a passion for sports cars and fast driving. He drove his Porsche at Sebring, FL
and even won a few ribbons.
Being with family and enjoying the holidays together meant more to him than anything else.
He touched many hearts and will be deeply missed by many.
