
Margaret Broadribb Spencer, 89, was promoted to Glory on November 26, 2013 at NHC Long Term Care Facility in Myrtle Beach, SC. She was born January 2, 1924 in Rochester, NY to the late William and Margaret Broardribb. She married her loving husband Gerald Jack Spencer in 1945. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage until his death in 2010. Margaret served faithfully as a Salvation Army Officer (clergy) for 42 years retiring at the rank of Major. While an officer she shared the love of Jesus Christ in New York, New Jersey, Ohio and Connecticut through many forms of ministry including children's programs, women's ministries, community outreach, Church Women United and Zonta International. She retired to Ellenton, FL in 1987 and served as a volunteer in Manatee Memorial Hospital. Margaret is survived by: her four children, Major Marjorie (Clinton) Foster of Murrell's Inlet, SC; Barbara Selvek of Canandaigua, NY; Gerald (Mary) Spencer of Trenton, NJ; and Alice Robson, of Lancaster, SC; her 9 grandchildren: Kim, Phillip and William Foster; Rebecca (Larry) Aikins; Rachael (Zachary) Eddinger; Kathleen, Sarah, and Anne Spencer; and Brian Robson; her 4 great grandchildren: Makayla Selvek, Sierra and Charissa Eddinger and William Aikins; and her brother David (Sharene) Broadribb, of Hamlin, New York. She was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Broadribb O'Neill and Helen Broadribb Perkins. A Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday December 13, 2013 at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, FL and a Funeral Service will be held on December 14, 2013 at The Salvation Army Center for Worship and Service 5328 24th Street East, Bradenton, FL, 24203. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army, 5328 24th Street East, Bradenton, FL, 24203, specifically for the summer camp fund.
