Otis Joiner

Age 79, of Parrish, died October 11, 2016. He was surrounded by his loving family and peaceful voice of his wife of 58 years. Although born in Georgia, on August 20th, 1937, he considered himself a lifelong Floridian. Otis & Joyce (Geisler) were married September 13, 1958. They raised their family in Palmetto. Otis worked 55 years in the roofing industry and was an offshore, commercial fisherman before that. He was a dedicated and loved employee of Approved Roofing/USA Steel Fence Co. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Pierce, playing on his computer, watching his TV shows, Copenhagen, Diet Pepsi and chocolates. More than anything, he loved spending time with his HUGE family. The legacy he has left behind was his proudest achievement and greatest joy. Otis is survived by his wife, Joyce; Daughters: Gwen (Will) Hinkle, Edwina (Frank) Rzonca, Rosie Peters; Sons: Otis "Bubba" (Patty) Joiner, Jubal (Clare) Joiner; Grandchildren: Joyce Ann Hinkle, Lil Will (Lydia) Hinkle, Tasha (Erik) Fodera, Jeni (DJ) Scheid, Felicia (Jeremy) Taylor, Kami (Mikey) Mathis, Jeremy (Brittney) Rzonca, Lauren, Carson, Allie, Molly & Emily Joiner, Little Tony & Cheyann Mathis, Tim (Tiffany) Jenkins; Great-Grandchildren: Reagan "Reggie", Gillian, Adison, Rylee, Baylee, Wylee, Aubri, Gavin, Madisyn, Kinsley, Alex, Junior, Alana, Karina, Keaton & Kambri; and many beloved nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Judge and Allie (Johnson); Brothers: Elmore, Ralph, Gene & Luther Joiner; Sisters: Thelma Wilkes & Shirley Madden. Funeral Services will be held at Groover's Funeral Home in Ellenton, on Saturday, October 15, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, Otis would like you to please vote for Donald J. Trump!
