Steven "Steve" Morris, 82, passed away on August 16, 2025, in Parrish, Florida. Born on January 20, 1943, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Steve lived a life marked by service, ingenuity, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Steve proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Special Forces. His military career included service in Vietnam and operations across various global locations. He was honorably discharged after completing his duties with distinction.
Following his military service, Steve embarked on a successful career with AT&T. Over the course of 30 years, he rose to manage an AT&T data center, where his technical acumen and leadership left a lasting impact. His colleagues knew him as someone who could solve complex problems with creativity and precision.
A true mechanical wizard, Steve had an uncanny ability to repair or invent nearly any functional device. Whether it was with a battery, a string of twinkle lights, or just a few screws, he could craft something that not only worked but often amazed those around him. His workshop was his sanctuary—a place where ideas came to life and where he found great joy in building useful inventions.
Steve’s passion for fishing led him to become a longtime member of the Bass Masters. An avid fisherman, he caught several record-sized bass that now hang proudly on his office wall as trophies of his dedication to the sport. He also had a deep love for Shelties and raised several over the years—Chang, Heather, and Nikki—each one holding a special place in his heart.
Known for his remarkable memory and storytelling abilities, Steve could entertain friends and family for hours with vivid tales and well-timed jokes. His stories were more than just recollections—they were windows into a life richly lived.
Steve is survived by two sisters: Linda Christy of Haughton, Louisiana; and Marye Ann “Rabbit” Kovatch of Port Orange, Florida. Their bond remained strong throughout the years.
May Steve’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life filled with purpose, creativity, and heart.
