

Burton C. Sandberg M.D., F.A.A.P., a retired pediatrician from Cardiff, California, passed away on December 31, 2021, at home after a short battle with cancer. He was 91.
Born to Ernie and Elsie Sandberg in Aurora, Minnesota, he is survived by Sonya, his loving wife of 65 years, daughter Sheryl and Michael, and son Curtis and his wife Reinie and three grandchildren Alexa, Chase and Trevor, his son Scott and his wife Judy.
Young Burton worked summers in the mines of the Iron Range in Minnesota. He graduated with his MD from the University of Minnesota, served in the US Air Force as a flight surgeon, specialized in pediatrics at County USC and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He was in private practice in Pomona, California for 30 years.
Burt, as he was fondly known, enjoyed traveling with his family in his RV to Minnesota and Wisconsin to visit family and to the National Parks. He enjoyed woodworking projects, sharing jokes, reading, the theatre, business and celebrating the holidays. He also enjoyed patriotic, big-band and polka music. He was known and loved at the area restaurants for enjoying copious quantities of iced tea and lots of lemons.
