DeLores Ruth Johnson was born to Matt and Helmi Martinson, November 24, 1928 in Mountain Iron, Minnesota, the tenth of eleven children. She graduated from Mountain Iron High School in 1946 where she was involved in choir, newspaper and the marching band as a majorette. Her nicknames were Loly and Muzza. December 31, 1946 DeLores married Wallace Johnson of Chisholm. While Wally studied at the University of Minnesota in Duluth, she “brought home the bread and baked it too!” By the time Wally graduated in 1951, she had given birth to three boys. Soon after, they moved to Lancaster, California, where their fourth son was born. In 1952 they moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico where Wally worked for the University of California Research Laboratory, where their fifth son was born. In 1959, the family moved to Solana Beach and Wally began working at General Atomics. For most of their marriage, Wally worked on top secret projects in weapon research. In 1974, DeLores helped Wally found Computer Code Consultants, she then obtained top secret clearance, freeing them to talk about anything. One of their greatest joys was working with Young Life and visiting ministries throughout the world. Her love for Jesus showed in everything she said and did.
DeLores enjoyed being a mother, patiently and tirelessly raising her five sons, continuing to support them throughout their adult lives. She loved her 19 grandchildren and 23 great grand children.
DeLores lived the last thirteen months at “Arbor Victoria,” a wonderful, safe, and peaceful community. Her family is profoundly grateful to the staff who embodied the presence of Christ while caring for and loving her as their own.
DeLores was preceded in death by her husband of almost 57 years, her son Dale, her grandson Alex, her eight brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her son Rev. Darrell (Sharon) Johnson of Vancouver, British Columbia; daughter-in-law Connie Johnson of Fallbrook, Ca.; her son Duane (Cindy) Johnson of Cerritos, Ca.; her son Dana (Julie) Johnson of Carlsbad, Ca; her son Dwight (Debbie) Johnson of Enumclaw, Washington.
Her love for Jesus shown in everything she said and did.
