

Jim (James Edwin) Gunther was born May 12, 1929, to Edwin and Alice Gunther in Chicago, Il. He grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, attended St. Giles Elementary School, Fenwick High School and Loyola University with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce. It was at Loyola University where he met the love of his life, wife, best friend, and companion forever, Patricia Ann Hoyt. Jim and Pat married on June 16, 1951, and lived their first few years of marriage in Northbrook, Il. In 1955, they moved to Bettendorf, Iowa. Jim and Pat raised 5 children, James Bradly Gunther (deceased), Pamela Mae Gunther, Gregory Hoyt Gunther, Kathryn Allison Gunther, and Karen Ellen Gunther Connelley. Jim is survived by his wife Pat, their 4 children, 11 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Jim’s passion when not working was boating up and down the Mississippi River, and tennis and golf where he won several championships. He also enjoyed playing croquet, bridge, and other card games. His other favorite pastime includes cruising and experiencing the many different places and cultures around the world.
