Margaret Amison Langer (Peggy) passed away on Saturday January 19, 2019 from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband Otto on October 21, 2007. She leaves behind her two children Marcia Priest (Don Cowgill) and Mark Langer (Maudy) and grandchildren Melissa Langer and Matthew Langer, along with many nephews and nieces and lots of friends.
Peggy was born in Boston Massachusetts to Laura and Albert Amison. They moved across the country in 1945 by train when her three brothers all said they were going to stay in San Diego after discharge from the Navy. In 1946, she met Otto on a blind date, and they married in 1947. They lived in Pacific Beach from 1951 on, in their beautiful home overlooking Pacific Beach, Mission Bay, and downtown San Diego. Peggy re-entered the workforce in 1956 working in the aerospace industry as a secretary, first at Convair/General Dynamics, and then at Teledyne Kinetics in Solana Beach, where she retired in 1983. Several years after Otto’s passing Peggy sold their home in 2010 and moved to her new home in Encinitas to be closer to Marcia & Mark. In 2015 she moved to assisted living at Atria Senior Living (North) in Encinitas where she lived with her kitty “Toot”. There she made many friends, both fellow residents, and the wonderful caregivers and staff who she charmed with her beautiful smile and happy disposition.
There was never a party Mom didn’t want to attend, or a place she didn’t want to go to. We took her to Vegas for her 90th birthday where she ended up onstage with Thunder from Down Under(!), we went to Boston to visit her roots, and to Cabo where she went swimming in the ocean and slipped and had to be caught by some of the locals! She had fun wherever she went!
We would like to thank everyone who made Mom’s life so full and took such good care of her after Otto passed. Theresa Briley was her live in caregiver until 2015, the staff of Bridge Hospice was so helpful for the last several months, and special thanks go to the wonderful staff at Atria North who all loved her and always looked out for her. We are very thankful for all the time we had. "Bye for now" Mom, we love you!
The family is holding a Celebration of Peggy’s life on March 16th at 11:00 AM at Mark’s home in Cardiff at 11:00 AM with lunch following. Please contact Marcia [email protected] or 760-420-6016 for additional details.
