Born on January 5, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Veronica was the beloved daughter of Marie Ann Seibel and Francis J. Williams, and the biological daughter of Jerry Iaquinto. She grew up at 3008 North Franklin Street in Philadelphia, attended St. Edward’s School, St. Veronica’s School, and graduated from Little Flower High School in 1964.
Soon after, on October 1, 1966, she married the love of her life, Richard Lewis Roth, in Philadelphia. They shared nearly six decades of marriage. Ronnie and Rich started their lifelong journey together at 7403 North Dorcas Street in Philadelphia, PA. Their son Richard Bryan was born while they lived on Dorcas Street. They soon moved to Brookview Road in Philadelphia, PA, where they welcomed their second son, Scott Andrew. In 1976 the family moved to Chalfont, PA where Ronnie and Rich raised their boys and lived for 33 years. Eventually they made the cross-country move to Southern California, living in San Diego, Carlsbad, and ultimately settling in Encinitas, although she never forgot her Philadelphia roots. Each home was filled with love and joy, creating unforgettable memories.
Along the way, Ronnie enjoyed a fulfilling career at Merck, where she worked from 1987 to 2006 as an Executive Assistant and Notary, earning praise and respect for her skills and dedication. But more than anything, Ronnie cherished her time spent with family, building and sharing a lifetime of love and memories with her husband Rich, while lovingly raising two boys and eventually becoming a proud and doting grandmother to Cooper Lewis Roth, Madoc Ellis Roth, and Harper Izabella Roth, who
were the true joys of her life. She delighted in doting on them, watching them grow up, celebrating their accomplishments, being their biggest supporter at sporting events and creating memories they will carry forever.
Ronnie pursued many passions over the years, including dominating at Scrabble, binge watching Britbox and reading extensively, in particular true crime novels, but none quite reached the lifelong level of love she had for tennis, which remained one of her greatest joys, although a joy that could also be incredibly frustrating at times! She loved playing the game with her husband Rich, in fact they played almost every day. In addition to playing tennis, Ronnie loved watching her sons and grandchildren compete, attending professional tournaments, and enthusiastically watching and discussing matches and players. Tennis was more than a hobby, it was a lifelong passion that brought the family together.
She also had a creative spirit, and this was displayed through her amazing cooking (think meatballs on Christmas Eve!) and baking (chocolate chip cookies), her arts and crafts (Byer’s Choice doll collections and amazing holiday displays), and her passion for gardening. Ronnie and Rich were seasoned travelers, with favorite destinations being Palm Springs, CA, coastal California, Hawaii, Germany, England, France, Ireland and Italy, where Ronnie’s passion for genealogy enabled her to identify her and Rich’s ancestral roots, visit many of their family sites in Italy, Ireland, and Germany and also connect with recently discovered family members Felicia Biberica and Gina Potemski.
Veronica is survived by her loving husband, Richard Lewis Roth and her children’s families Rich, Anne, Cooper and Madoc of Encinitas, CA and Scott, Elda, and Harper of Carlsbad, CA; her brother, Michael Williams; she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Williams. She will be deeply missed and always loved by her family and her life-long friends, Carolyn and George Sloss, Joanne Murphy, and Linda Marino among many, many others, whose lives were brightened and enriched by her love, warmth, generosity, passion, and unwavering loyalty.
