Thomas Del Torto passed away suddenly in Rotonda West, on July 10, 2021, he was only 58. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Geraldine Smith Del Torto and his three children, Phillip J. Del Torto (Margarita) Ft. Myers, FL, Samson S. Del Torto, Atlanta, GA, Jaime S. Allen (James) Narberth, PA and one granddaughter, Sophie Jaymes Allen. He also survived by 3 sisters and a brother, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was born in Medford, MA to the late Lt. Gen. Nicholas Del Torto and his wife Anna Di Pirro Del Torto. He graduated from Matignon High School and Northeastern University. He moved to Pennsylvania in the 1980’s and he and his wife, Geri moved to Rotonda West, FL in 2006. Tom began working for Wharton Smith Construction in 2017 and was promoted to Business Development Executive of the Carolina Division in January 2021. This promotion took Tom and Geri to Charlotte, NC, where they had just finished moving. The move meant they would be in a more central location to all 3 of their children and especially Sophie. Tom was the son of a 3 Star General and of course he followed in his father’s footsteps. Tom was a US Army Ranger and was proud to have served his country. Tom was a true “Renaissance Man” and he could literally do anything and everything. He always said, “If it worked once, it will work again.” He also told a dear friend’s daughter, “He could fix anything, but a broken heart.” He was a loving husband, an incredible father and his wife and children adored him. To know Tom was to love Tom, he was always the life of the party and had the ability to make everyone in the room laugh. Tom and Geri were known for their great parties which always included karaoke, where Tom would shock everyone with his amazing singing voice. There was nothing he could not do. Tom loved being on the water and he and Geri spent most weekends on their boat enjoying the beautiful Gulf of Mexico with friends. He was always available to help anyone that asked for help, but never asked for anything in return. He was truly one of a kind and the world was lucky to have had him. The family will be holding a “Celebration of Life” for Tom after Geri moves back to Florida in the fall. Please feel free to bring your pictures and stories to share with all the people that loved him.

Goodbye to my dear doe eyed friend Tommy D. A man that I am proud to have had as my friend. Tom was a man's man, solid. A man of his word. If Tom was your friend, he was. If Tom was not your friend...well Tom had a lot of friends. Tom had a lot of friends because he was the kind of person who would take the time to know people.
So much to say about Tommy, this may not be the format for that.
May God bless the family, friends and loved ones of Tommy DelTorto. And by the grace of God, Tom my friend, may we meet again.
With much love and respect.

I had the pleasure of working with Tom for the last few years at Wharton Smith. He was one of kind, always had a smile on his face. He brought the light and laughter in the room, no matter where he was. Tom was a person you wanted to surround yourself with. His positive attitude was infectious. My heart and prayers go out to the family and hope and pray for healing for your incredible loss.

RIP Tom, we love you brother.
