 Obituario de Marjorie Ann Pohly
POHLY, Marjorie Ann, age 96, died peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at home in Kettering, Ohio with her family at her side. She was born on January 7, 1922 in Butler, Ohio, the only child of Earl and Erma (Swank) Heininger. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of almost 71 years, Dr. Kenneth Holt Pohly. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Carol Pohly of Kettering, OH, son Keith (Eva Jo) Pohly of Martinsville, OH, grandson Jesse (girlfriend Brooke Burson) Pohly of New Vienna, OH, and grandson Aaron (Kelly) Pohly and great-grandsons Everett and Anderson Pohly of Westerville, OH. Marge graduated from Butler High School in 1939 as valedictorian of her class, receiving first place on a county-wide scholarship test. She graduated from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois in 1943 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. Marge played accordion, piano and organ. She taught music both in Ohio and Illinois and was a church choir director/organist for 22 years in Euclid, OH and for 10 years in Dayton, OH. She also gave private piano lessons, sang in a community choir, and accompanied other choirs/soloists on piano. She worked as a secretary at Otterbein College for 5 years and in the Central Office at Trotwood-Madison City Schools for 10 years. In addition to attending the Sunday Services at Fairview UM Church, Marge worked in the food pantry, helped with the mailing of the monthly newsletter, participated in Day for Others (sewing), played the piano for the Faith Class in Sunday School, and attended the monthly Circle Meeting. She loved traveling and camping, having been in 49 states in the USA, many places in Canada and 12 countries in Europe. She loved to crochet, sew and do needlepoint, often making gifts for others, while family and many friends from church, seminary and elsewhere enjoyed the excellent home-cooked meals she loved to prepare and serve. Marge made acquaintance with people quickly and easily and had a wonderful sense of humor. Her family's memories are of a loving, gracious, generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose presence in the family circle provided a warm, nurturing foundation and made every situation bright and joyful. A memorial service will be held at FAIRVIEW UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 828 W. Fairview Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45406 on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 11:00 am with Dr. G.
