Donald Larry Burgett

Don was born on July 13th, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa to Omar and Dorothy Burgett. He attended North High School in Des Moines, Iowa before joining the United States Marine Corp. After years of service to our country, becoming a father to 4 children, a truck driver, a real estate agent; he then made his way into retirement in Escondido, CA, where he had the pleasure of jumping into the political world, which he LOVED.

Don passionately served his community and his congressional district by attending, celebrating, and participating in any Republican Party event that allowed him to show his support, express his beliefs and spread the overabundance of knowledge he had for his country. Don loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, his red wine or ice-cold beer and enjoyed every opportunity to catch a baseball game with friends and family.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, son (Scott Burgett) and granddaughter (Melinda Burgett).

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Terry Burgett, Kim (Bob) McCleary, Brian (Kathy) Burgett; daughter-in-law, Toni Burgett (wife of Scott, mother of Melinda); 8 grandchildren: Melissa, Jon, Brandi, Blaine, Scott Jr., Samantha, Alexis, Nicodi; twenty-two great grandchildren; and a legacy of devoted friends.

In lieu of funeral services, a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
