Edward G. Greer, M.D. was born October 1, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Edward G. Greer Sr., a coal salesman and Adelaide Greer, a nurse. His family later moved to Park Rapids, MN where he enjoyed his childhood with his two brothers and younger sister.
In 1950 he would find his first medical calling when he joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a Corpsman and Surgical Operating Technician during the Korean War.
After his tour in the Navy he worked various jobs to put himself through Medical School at U.C. Irvin. In 1965 he graduated within the Top Ten percent of his class.
Once he completed his residency he began his career as a General/Vascular Surgeon in Escondido. He served the community for over 40 years working out of Palomar Medical Center.
If he wasn't in the operating room, "Eddie" would be out working on his ranch weeding and picking up rocks. He enjoyed the weekends where he could leave his worries behind and ride his horse on the wide open pastures with his family and friends.
Ed lost his 9 month battle with lymphoma on February 8, 2012.
Ed is survived by his sons: Eddie, James, John, Michael, Stephen and CJ; his daughters: Susie, Tina, and Carol; his four grandsons: Eddie, Ian, Cade, and Jack; his brother, Conrad, and sister, Sue.
