Our father was nearly 102 years of age when it became time to go be with our mom...this was a man who spent a lifetime loving our mother, loving us, loving his God. He was born in Indiana and eventually met the love of his life who he married and was devoted to until she passed away at 100 years of age. Dad lived through the depression, paid $7 for his first monthly rent, a nickle for a gallon of gas, saw the first car roll off of the lines, saw the invention of the TV, the invention of computers, the invention of cell phones. He was a manufacturing tool engineer and worked his entire life providing for his wife and family. Up until nearly the last day of his life, dad worked on his projects which he so dearly loved doing, he had (7) patents to his name and was working on the 8th! Our parents had a son and 2 daughters. and grandchildren, and loved us without measure, and as each of us married our spouses were welcomed by dad into his family as if they were his own. With nothing more than a high school education, this was a man who was a class act, exceptionally well mannered, with never an unkind word for anyone. It would have never entered his mind to make one person feel unwelcome into his family, he had far too much character. In 1956 he moved his family to California and bought his first home for $16,000!!! He and our mom spent their lives loving their family and being active with their group of friends who loved our dad dearly. There was nothing more that he loved to do then get in the car and go, and he and our mom did so often. Dad loved to travel and he and mom have been to every one of the states and some twice. Our father lived his life on his terms and he died on his terms... which is as it should be for all of us.
