July 8, 1939 - October 01, 2026
Isabel Cortez Sandoval, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and beloved member of her family, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, at the age of 87.
Isabel married the love of her life, Guadalupe Cortez. in 1960. They shared more than 50 years together until his passing in 2015. Throughout their marriage, they worked side by side to build a home, raise their family, and create a better future for their children.
Isabel was the loving mother of five children: Ricardo, Ignacio "Nacho," Alfredo, Carlos, and Isabel. She was also a proud grandmother to four grandchildren: Araceli, Carlos Jr., Vanessa, and Joey.
Family was at the center of lsabel's life. She loved her husband and children deeply and would do anything she could to help them succeed and move forward in life. As a naturalized citizen of the United States, she was deeply grateful for the opportunities this country provided. She encouraged her husband and children to work hard, take advantage of those opportunities, and build better lives for themselves and their families.
Pauma Valley held a special place in Isabel's heart. She first came to Pauma Valley in the early l 960s. As she traveled down Cole Grade Road and saw the valley for the first time, she immediately felt that it was a special place where she could be happy. That feeling never left her. Pauma Valley became her home and would always remain a special part of who she was.
Starting with very little, Isabel and Guadalupe worked hard and were eventually able to purchase their own home in Pauma Valley in the early 1970s. That home provided a stable foundation for their family and became a place filled with love, hard work. family gatherings, and memories that would last a lifetime.
The year 1979 brought one of the most difficult periods of Isabel's life. Her son Ignacio was tragically killed while riding his bicycle, and her older son left home after graduating from high school. Despite the heartbreak and changes her family experienced, Isabel continued forward. She remained devoted to her husband and children and continued doing everything she could to love, support. and care for her family.
Isabel was also a wonderful cook and took great pride in keeping the family home in beautiful condition. Her cooking. her care for her home, and the love she put into everything she did were expressions of the love she had for her family.
Later in life, Isabel suffered a stroke that required her to live in a nursing home. Although she did not enjoy being there, she made the best of the situation and, for the most part. maintained a positive attitude. Even during this difficult chapter of her life, the strength and love that had defined her remained.
Isabel leaves behind a family who will forever carry her memory and the lessons she taught them: to love one another, work hard, appreciate the opportunities life provides. and always do what you can to help your family.
Her life was centered around the people she loved most. Her greatest accomplishment was the family she helped build, and her greatest legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren.
We all love you, Mom. We always will. May you rest peacefully, Mom.
Pauma Valley will always be home.
