Patricia Loe Dugan Postma — lovingly known as Pat — was born on December 14, 1932, in Washington, Pennsylvania, to John and Madge Dugan. She passed away surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and steadfast devotion to those she held dear.
Pat graduated from Washington High School in Pennsylvania and was offered the opportunity to attend Penn State. Ever independent and curious, she instead chose to forge her own path, relocating to Washington, D.C., where she built a career in the insurance industry as a highly regarded secretary.
It was during her time on the East Coast that Pat's greatest adventure began. On a trip with a group of friends to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, she attended a dance at the recreation hall — and there she met Roy. The two danced the night away, setting in motion a partnership that would span nearly seven decades. After a two-year courtship, Patricia and Roy were married in December 1956. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this coming December.
Military life carried the Postmas across the country and around the world — from Oceana, Virginia, and Quonset Point, Rhode Island, to the West Coast and the Philippines. In 1965, while stationed at North Island Naval Air Station, they purchased a home in Chula Vista, California. That home became the warm and welcoming heart of their family for nearly sixty years, and it was there that Pat and Roy found their church home at Bayview Orthodox Presbyterian Church, a cornerstone of her faith and community life.
Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She welcomed her son Gregory in 1958 in Norfolk, Virginia — now a physician living in Georgia — and her daughter Tracy in 1960 in Quonset Point, Rhode Island, who resides today in Escondido, California.
Pat will be remembered for her grace, her quiet strength, and the warmth she brought to every room she entered. She is survived by her two children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, and is deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
For those who wish to attend the memorial service, it will be on May 2nd at 11:00am at
Bayview Presbyterian Church at 505 E. Naples Street, Chula Vista.
