Rod was a grocer for 38 years, retiring in 2011. He was a Coach and President for the Escondido Pop Warner Football from 1981 to 2000. His favorite pastimes were camping, fishing, gardening, football and surfing.
Rod is survived by his sons, Brian (Coty) Hitchcock, and Paul Hitchcock; brother, Lyle Hitchcock; and sister Janice Hitchcock. He was preceded in death by Rebecca Hitchcock.
A Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., on Friday, August 23, with funeral services starting at 11 a.m. at FDA McLeod Mortuary in Escondido. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido.
