Elizabeth Edith Hoag died peacefully at St.Joe's Hospital on Saturday August 28th 2010. Elizabeth was born on Feb 10th 1931 in Birmingham, England, she was the eldest daughter in a family of ten children and as such was given much responsibility taking care of her siblings while her Mom was out working and Dad was in the Royal Air Force. At the height of WW2, it was all hands on deck to manage and play the hand you were dealt so at an early age she learned how to be a leader which would serve her well for the future life she had planned. At age 14, Elizabeth was working two jobs to bring in much needed money to help support the family. After the war ended, things were getting better and Elizabeth decided to come to America and become a Nanny for an American Family. She had many wonderful adventures and when her contract was up she and another Nanny decided to take off for San Francisco where they found work and as time went by they both met and married and in due time parted ways. Elizabeth moved with her husband Hank Hoag to Phoenix, AZ. They later moved to Flagstaff where she remained and began a small Care Home with an annex built onto her home. This was what she was born to do, taking care of usually five elderly residents. Elizabeth was happy but the marriage did not last and after she was divorced, she continued running her business until eight years ago she began dealing with the onset of Alzheimers In 2005, with her health deteriorating , she moved to Humboldt to live with her sister Pru. Four years ago Elizabeth moved into Timber Ridge and was enjoying all they have to offer until two years ago she moved into Renaissance where she continued to be content and happy. Always a friendly person she leaves a big thank you to all the aides and everyone who made her days a bit brighter. Elizabeth's family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and everyone at St. Joe's especially the volunteers and hospice for their help in her peaceful passing.
