

Ava Louise (Simpson) Sander, 82, of Evansville, Indiana passed away at home peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was born September 24, 1937 to Ralph and Louise (Klueg) Simpson.
Ava Lou graduated from F. J. Reitz High School in 1955. She married Melvin Sander on May 12, 1956 after meeting at Zoar United Church of Christ at Youth Fellowship and Sunday School Class. Ava Lou worked for Indiana Bell until she had children. After several years of being a stay at home mother, she became a church secretary at Zoar United Church of Christ. This became a 37 year career for Ava Lou. Her church and her church family were very important to her and she was very involved in helping at many events at Zoar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ralph Simpson, Jr. and granddaughter, Julie.
Ava Lou is survived by her husband of 64 years, Melvin; sons, Michael (Jane) of Evansville and Dale (Ronda) of Boonville; grandchildren, Alicia (Brad) Becker, Jennifer Sander, Megan (Chad) Deno, and Jodi Sander; great grandchildren, Evan and Aubrey Becker and Brady and Cooper Deno; sister, Peggy Seiler and sister-in-laws, Dorothy Sander, Julia Sander and Ellen Berberich; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice for their care of Ava Lou.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at Zoar United Church of Christ, 4600 Church Road, officiated by Rev. Art Christmas, with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may visit on Wednesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
