

Barbara (Wilson) Gregory Phillips, 77, of Evansville, IN, formerly of Henderson, KY, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mark and Nancy Gregory Strouse. She was born November 21, 1935, in Henderson, to the late Allen Wilson and Ruth Benson Wilson Hale.
She was an active member of Parke Memorial Presbyterian Church in Evansville, IN, where her late husband, Ron Phillips was a long-time member and Elder. Before moving to Evansville, Barbara and her late husband, Bill Gregory were active members at Zion Baptist Church where they served in many different ways.
Barbara was well known for her 25 years with the Henderson County Health Care Corporation as a Resident Manager at Redbanks Towers and Apartments and as a Director of Activities and Human Services at Redbanks Health Care Facility. She earned her Associate Degree in Human Service in 1981, earned her A.R.M., Accredited Resident Manager in 1987 and earned her C.O.S. , Certified Occupancy Specialist through the National Center for Housing Management in 1987. Preceding her career with Redbanks, Barbara worked five years at the Community Methodist Hospital as a Unit Secretary and Medical Records Coding Clerk.
She was the happiest while doing something for someone else. She was always the ultimate caregiver. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, served on the Baptismal Committee, planned activities for her residents, wrote The Redbanks Review Newspaper and the Redbanks Towers Newsletter, and looked for any excuse to throw a party for the residents, family and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Gregory of 41 years and Ron Phillips of 10 years. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Gregory Gary in 2006, her son, Tony Kirtz in 2010, and a step-daughter, Pam Phillips in 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Gregory Strouse and her husband, Mark of Henderson, KY; step-son, Kenny Phillips and his wife, Debbie of Poseyville, IN; two sisters, Betty Abbott of Henderson, KY and Patty Houchens and her husband, Roy of Hopkinsville, KY; two brothers, Don Wilson and his wife, Susan of Newburgh, IN and Mike Wilson and his wife Diane of Evansville; nine grandchildren, Susan Kirtz of Chapel Hill, NC, Chelsea Strouse Hunter and husband, Casey of Newburgh, IN, Lindsey Strouse Malone and her husband, Josh of Valparaiso, IN, Ashley Bryant DeLong and her husband Nick and Whitney Gary all of Henderson, KY, Michael Phillips of Poseyville, IN, Christina Whoolery of Alaska, Julie Whoolery Tukpeyi and Veronica Whoolery both of Evansville; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by The Reverend Dr. Ray Parker, with entombment in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY. Friends may visit Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 11:00 Am until service time at the funeral home.
