Betty Jean Smith

Betty Jean Claspell Smith, 91, of Evansville, IN, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Home. She was born September 25, 1926, to John and Edna Claspell. She was married to Alfred F. Smith for 56 years. Betty retired from S. S. Kresge–K-Mart. She was a member of North Park Baptist Church. She loved camping, crocheting, shopping and collecting anything. Betty made all the holidays special for her family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Melvin Claspell and John “Toodle” Claspell; sisters, Bonita Wiessmann and Margie Knowles; and son, Steven F. Smith. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Biggs (Steve) and Gail Moody; sons, Glen (Nancy) Smith, Danny (Becky) Smith and Curtis Smith; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and one on the way. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Pastor Dan Sigler, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to North Park Baptist Church-Food Pantry.
