

He was a graduate of F.J. Reitz High School, class of 1954. Billy bled blue and gray and was a proud member of the 1953 state championship football team. Billy served in the US Army from 1954 – 1956 in Germany. Upon returning home, he started working for Mead Johnson where he retired after 37 years. While working, he obtained his bachelor’s degree at the University of Evansville, which he completed in 1965. He was a founding member of the R-Men’s Varsity Club, and was elected to the R-Men’s Hall of Fame. Billy was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1114 and the River Bend. He was involved in youth league baseball, and coached both junior league football and slow pitch softball for several years.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Gearlene Igleheart; and brother, Wayne Igleheart.
He is survived by his daughter, Kris Mindrup (Mark); son, Bob Igleheart (Michelle); grandchildren, Kayla Gengelbach (Kyle), Kasey Igleheart (Ashley), Madison Wilson (Jake), Paul Mindrup (Lydia); great grandchildren, Owen and Nora Gengelbach, Elle, Ava, and Bentley Igleheart, baby Wilson coming in May, and Margaret Mindrup; sister, Shirley Holmes; and many more extended family members.
Billy’s family would like to thank the staff at Parkview Care Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street in Evansville, officiated by Pastor J.D. Rose. A private burial will follow in Tupman Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026, and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
