

Brocton served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War as a member of the 17th Infantry Regiment of the 7th Division. He earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky and was an avid UK football fan. He spent his working life as a civil engineer and land surveyor. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist faith and a humble servant to all.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel and David Griggs; two sisters, Mary Virginia Tombs and Mildred Buchanan; four brothers Bill, John, Jerry and David Griggs.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lee (Boyle) Griggs; two daughters, Barbara (Bill) Griepenstroh, and Catherine (Tony) Martin; sons, Mark (Sheila) and Stephen Griggs; grandchildren, Brittany Griggs, Amanda Denham (Joseph), Mackenzie Griepenstroh, Thea Epps and Tara Hoffman; and great-grandchild, Josie Denham.
Funeral services will be 11:30 Tuesday January 17th at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. David Nunning. Friends may visit Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday, 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
