

Charles C. Crandell, 76, died March 20, 2026 at Heart to Heart Hospice Center. He was born June 8, 1949 in Evansville, IN. Chuck was a devoted, steadfast, and compassionate man whose life reflected faithful service to others and a deep commitment to his calling and family.
He was a native Westsider and graduated from F.J. Reitz High School in 1967. Chuck graduated with his Bachelor of Divinity from Oakland City College in 1983.
Chuck was a minister who served several General Baptist Churches. He also served as a mentor for the Kairos Prison Ministry at Branchville Correctional Facility, offering steady guidance and encouragement. In addition, he was a past Director for Camp Brosend Ministries, where his leadership and care left a lasting impact.
Chuck enjoyed woodworking, a pursuit that reflected his precise and meticulous nature. He was devoted to his family, adored his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his many friends. He especially enjoyed eating lunch with his family and friends at El Charro!
Chuck is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathy (Cook) Crandell; son, Mike Crandell (Stephanie); daughters, Julie Crandell and Marjorie Susdorf (Tom); grandchildren, Jordan Crandell, Lauren Crandell, Aiden Crandell, Christina Susdorf, Jayma Susdorf and Archer Susdorf; great grandson, Wesley James Crandell; brother, William Crandell (Vicki) and sister, Marcia Sturm (Ronald).
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marjorie Crandell, and sister, Glenda Dosher.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Steve Phipps. A private family burial will follow. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
