Obituario de Charles K. "Chaz" Wright
Charles K. "Chaz" Wright of Evansville, IN passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the age of 91. He was born March 17, 1931 to the late Charles O. and Madeline (Kirchoff) Wright. Chaz graduated from Evansville College in 1959, where he met his wife, Marilyn Kemp. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Cabildo and later worked in the steel wholesale industry alongside family at Wright Steel & Service. Chaz married his beloved wife, Marilyn Wright, on August 25, 1956, and together they raised four children, Cheryl, Kirk, Chris, and Bryan. Chaz was a lover of corny jokes and harmless pranks; everyone who met him has heard his infamous Artichoke joke at least a hundred times. You could often find him spending time with his boys and grandkids out on the golf course, watching the Evansville Aces play basketball, or playing peekaboo with the nearest baby. He loved his wife more than anything and thought she was the best cook and soloist in the world, his favorite Sundays were the ones she performed at church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Madeline and Charles Wright; sister, Juanita Mueller; sister-in-law, Marilyn L. Wright; and nephew, Matthew Scott Wright. Chaz is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn (Kemp) Wright; children, Cheryl Wright, Kirk (Sherry) Wright, Chris (Phil) Behme, and Bryan (Ann) Wright; grandchildren, Brooke Bernhardt (Zach Phillips), Paige Austin (Craig), Haley Wright (Josh Perkins), Ty Bernhardt (Emily), Caitlin Chattin (Alex), Nick Wright, Casey Devine (Steven), Layne Wright (fiancé, Dalton Sullivan); great grandchildren, Emory “Remy” Austin, Eleanor “Squish” Devine, Stella Austin and two more on the way; brother, Raymond Wright; brother-in-law, Alfred Mueller; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 320 Cherry Street, officiated by Pastor Steve Claspell and Pastor Cliff Herring, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Retired Veterans Memorial Club. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
