So sorry to hear of Dan's passing.  I knew Dan when we both worked at Groton School in the '90s.  He was kind and generous person and I feel blessed to have known him.

It's been three years since you left us, Daniel. I had hoped to visit your resting place today, but was unable. I still miss you, my friend. I imagine in Heaven, it's much too marvelous to be in the presence of Jesus to even be conscious or concerned about your brothers and sisters still on this earth, presently bound by mortality, but I look forward to the day that I will see you again. Until that final day, my friend - enjoy your eternal reward. I'll meet you at the eastern gate.

Daniel gave me some good advice long ago that influenced me for the good.  In hopes of tracking him down and telling him this, I have come here, learning of his passing.

We were friends in our years at Princeton Seminary.  He lived only a few doors down.    Please permit me to recount a few of those times that come to mind.  These precious times included:   

   Laughter (Daniel told good jokes and was sensitive to life's funny situations.  Daniels's facial expression could tell what he was thinking without saying)
   Crying (He was there for me in some hard times of career doors closing and love losses)
   Learning about the daily news or what happened on a tv show I had missed (for Dan had a TV in his room at that time and did not miss his favorite shows),
   Simply driving around just to be out in the countryside, 
   Confronting me, as when I had hurt the feelings of a fellow student upstairs and thought everything was alright,
   Encouragement (in that he saw good in me that I had not seen.  He encouraged me to sing.  And I did.  He single-handedly got me a special key to a piano practice room on campus so I could play any time I wanted--and I did).  

I give thanks for the time I got to know Daniel .  The blessings of his friendship continue in my life.

What a poignant thing to do.... to remember and give thanks for someone who meant so much to me years after his departure. I loved Daniel like a member of my family. He sang in our wedding twenty five years ago this week, and I had the great privilege of participating in his ordination and attending his wedding. His humor, compassion, and kindness was infectious, and we enjoyed a lovely friendship from 1995 until 2008, when he last visited in NC. I've thought of him often -- and even tried to contact him -- numerous times and will cherish his memory.

I was a student at Groton School, class of 1999. Mr. Kincaid conducted my preliminary interview. He met my late mother on that first day I went there in March of 1995. I cannot express how much this man was an influence in my life: from convincing my mother that I should be enrolled (and bringing her to tears in the process), to guiding a full class of 14-year olds in an amazing 40-minute guided meditation during a Bible studies class... He was a mind-blowing human being. Really. A fantastic man. 
Thank God for this one, His true servant and a true leader to the rest of us.
I'm so sad to be reading this news, and so late...
Yet I smile as I remember the way he was in life, and I feel so lucky... 
I think he is still happy, now, up to and including this moment, and still along beside, smiling, with those of us who loved him.

Daniel, it's been exactly one year since your death, and I still miss you. Even though we had reached a point in our lives where we didn't get to see each other very often, you were always such an encouragement to me and to likely thousands of other people. I only wish I could have been there, to have done something to change the outcome of your departure. I'll always cherish the memory of you standing beside me as Kristi and I married. I believe in my heart that I will see you again one day friend.

I'm so sad. I was looking to hook up again with Daniel and come to find out, he's no longer with us. He was so profoundly influential to me and will always have a special place in my heart. He helped me during a very dark time spiritually. I know I will meet him again and for that I am grateful.

Dear Dr. and Mrs. Kincaid, Sarah and Anne - I sit here saddened and with a very heavy heart as I just learned of Daniel's passing.  I was a lifeguard with him at ECC for three summers - three of the best summers of my life. I was remembering one of our most hilarious moments and decided I would try to reconnect with him. Daniel was one of a kind then and I can truly say that through my lifetime, I have never met anyone else like him.  He was a true friend who I knew I could always count on no matter what the situation. To Daniel's family, I just learned today of Daniel's passing.  I taught school in Massachusetts 35 years and in Dayton 5 years.  Daniel Kincaid was the best principal I ever worked for.  I have missed him daily since he left Pathway School of Discovery.

I am only now hearing of Daniel's passing and it hits me with a heavy heart. He has helped me through some difficult times and was glad to know he was a friend of mine I could lean on. I do not know what happen, all I know is I talked with him on Nov 6th, and have been trying to get ahold of him ever since. Thank you for your love, friendship, words, and ears. Daniel Kincaid was one of the most amazing, gifted, beautiful people that I have ever known. He was one of the best friends that I have EVER had. He was ALWAYS there for me with a love that was unconditional. Words will never be able to say how much he meant to me. His friendship was and is a tremendous blessing in my life. He was my friend, my mentor, my rock. I am a better person because of him. Daniel, I love and miss you so much and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you. Daniel was a wonderful, giving person.  I will always feel blessed to have known him.  My family will always cherish the memories and time that we shared. He was able to see potential in everyone and encouraged them to see it in themselves.     I am so sorry for you.  Daniel had always treated me with great respect.  It was always a joy to be around him.  A couple of weeks ago he visited me and wanted to see my small town, Tipp City, Ohio. I was delighted that he had come.  If he was hurting, I did not realize it. 
     I have had 15 principals in my 46 years of teaching and Daniel was the best.  He was not only fair, but really cared about his staff and the students. I truly believe he would have done anything for me.  He kept Bible verses around his desk.   I am so fortunate to have had Daniel as a friend.  He reminded me how to live. I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Kinkaid's passing.  I remember him with such a joy for living and love for everyone and everything.  I was Mr. Kinkaid's student at Groton School in 1989.  I think he was the first teacher to encourage us to call him "Dan," though I could never make that transition.  He was always Mr. Kinkaid to me.  He made a huge positive impact on my life.  I remember Mr. Kinkaid's positive outlook every single day -- and his bright, winning smile.  My friend Alex and I took an elective course with Mr. Kinkaid.  The topic was "love."  Plain and simple, deep and meaningful.  No one was more qualified to teach on the subject of love.  Mr. Kinkaid loved freely and saw love all around him.  We read beautiful texts on love and had many thoughtful discussions.  I learned from him the meaning of love to others and to myself.  I am so grateful to him for this lesson and will always remember him for it.  He travelled half-way around the world to Hong Kong with Alex the summer of 1989.  I still remember his laugh and the wonder with which he explored new surroundings and faced new experiences.  I am so privileged to have known Mr. Kinkaid early in his education career and I am a better person for knowing him.  Alex, if you are reading this, my heart goes out to you.      I have many fond memories of Daniel.  He was one of my best friends from Plaza and Harrison. We worked together on the student council.  Daniel was also in my homeroom. Our last conversation was at Kirby's restaurant during a HS reunion.  I remember his smile and warm personality.  

     I cannot imagine how hard it is to lose a child or sibling.  You have my deepest sympathy.  I'll keep you on my prayer list as you face these difficult days ahead.

Dan took care of me as a little boy.  I have happy memories of our time together.  He came to my wedding and other family events and always took time for others.  He is the kind of guy that would light up when you met eyes, the kind of guy you would hug instead of handshake.  I am at a loss.....I can only hope that he is at peace in the presence of God.

Daniel was a friend and a role model for me for much of my life.  I still remember sitting with my parents at Trinity UMC downtown and listening with excitement whenever Daniel would deliver a guest sermon.  I wanted to be like him.

Later in life, I got to know Daniel more as a friend as he helped me through some rough patches.  You could count on him to be totally engaged and present in any conversation and to offer meaningful encouragement.

I know from personal experience that he touched many lives and had a positive impact on many people.  I will miss him.  My prayers are with all of his family and loved ones.

We will remember with great fondness the opportunities we had to interact with Daniel. We are praying for your whole family and are so, so sorry for your loss.

Wendy and I would like to express our deepest sympathy for your loss. I knew Daniel as a wonderful happy and caring person. I cannot forget his friendly smile and warmth whenever I shared his company. Robert and Phyllis we are very sorry for your great loss. Daniel was a very beautiful person.

He had a special way of staying true to his faith, while allowing that there just might be another way to look at things, without being judgemental. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.  Daniel was a wonderful influence on many teens, including my own, during his years as a lifeguard.  I always enjoyed his dynamic personality and our many chats and am deeply saddened by his premature departure.  He is now, I am sure, safely in the bosom of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Bob and Phyllis,
Years ago I told Daniel, and you, about my Dad's inability to forgive himself for war time killing, until our daughter presented the Gospel of Forgiveness to him. Daniel took that information and gave one of the most beautiful messages we've ever heard. He presented that same Gospel to his congregation in hopes it would heal others feeling the same way. 

He was a gifted pastor, God loving person and son. We did not know him well but clearly Our Lord Jesus Christ does. 
God blessed you with a wonderful son who loved and honored you, his parents. You'll miss him so very much but you will see him again in Heaven.
