Dave was born 11/4/45. He was a devoted father, husband, brother and friend to many.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Colleen Dubber, son, Jake (Ree) Dubber, granddaughter, Gianna, brother, Mike (Janet) Dubber, nephew, J.D. (Melissa) Dubber, brother-in-law, Renato Butturi, nephews Marco and Angelo, niece, Gabriella, honorary son and daughter Jeff and Andrea Thomas, granddaughter Lauren, and was preceded in death by parents Eugene Dubber, Estella Dubber (Bruner), sister, Debra Butturi, and niece Amy Dubber.
As a westsider, Dave attended F.J.Reitz High School and continued to Indiana University to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Business.
Dave served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army from 1967-1969 in Germany. He continued to serve in the US Army Reserve before Honorable Discharge in 1973. Shortly thereafter, he was hired as part of the Public Relations team at Mead Johnson. He served as the head of Public Relations and authored the company newspaper for more than 30 years, through mergers with Bristol-Myers and Squibb.
Dave retired early, and spent the rest of his life doing his favorite things: swimming in the lake in his backyard (no matter how cold it was!), walking daily in the neighborhood and having to wear two fanny packs full of dog treats, because there were so many local dogs that loved him and waited for him every morning (he even had detailed notes including each dog’s name, breed and favorite kind of treat).
He was a world traveler, between his time in the military, his career and his retirement. Dave was an accomplished writer, having his personal essay about his own big win, “Crossing the Bar on a Fiberglass Pole” published in several college textbooks as an example of what the standard of a personal essay is. He had a way with descriptive words and punctuation that anyone who was lucky enough to receive a personal letter from him will attest to.
