

David was a WWII veteran and served in both the Army (under General Patton) and Navy.
He graduated from Hanson High School in 1942. David received a scholarship to play basketball for Georgetown University in Kentucky.
David was a barber for 53 years and a lifetime member of VFW Post #1114.
He was an avid gardener and hunter. David especially enjoyed spending nearly every weekend with his wife and family at his childhood home and farm.
David is preceded in death by his parents Lote and Ross Rickard; daughter, Diana L. Page; daughter-in-law, Dawn Rickard; brothers, Hans, Otto, Bill, and Paul; sisters, Mable Bailey and Sylvia Tapley.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gertrude (Martin) Rickard; sons, Kenneth R. Rickard and wife Patty and Robert D. Rickard all of Evansville; grandchildren, Juanita Carr, Shannon R. Rickard, Deborah S. Rickard, Kenneth D. Rickard, Hilleri Maroni, Hollie Newsham, and Matthew Rickard; great-grandchildren, Kacey, Alex, Austin, and Nikolas; and great-great-grandchild, Chevy.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 18, 2011at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bob Simpkins with burial at Olive Branch Cemetery in Hanson, KY. Friends may visit Friday from 10:00 AM until service time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Society or to the Vanderburgh County Humane Society.
