

Donald “Buzz” Clarence Schmidt, 83, of Evansville, passed away Monday, May 4, 2015, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born March 5, 1932, in Evansville, to the late Albert and Lizetta (Winternheimer) Schmidt.
He attended Vogel Grade School and graduated from Bosse High School, Class of 1950. He served in the Navy for four years before going to barber school. He retired from Stadium Barbers in April of 2013 after 57 years of barbering. Buzz was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, where he was an elder and held many positions. He was known for collecting aluminum cans for Habitat for Humanity and he volunteered at Good Samaritan Home. He enjoyed golfing, going to Aces games, and dancing.
Buzz is survived by his wife of 61 years, Audrey (Benedict) Schmidt; daughters, Joni (J.D.) Heugel of Noblesville, IN and Jan Schmidt; son, Eric Schmidt, both of Evansville; and granddaughter, Erin (Mervin) Reichel Schultz of Tampa, FL.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 PM Friday, May 8, 2015, at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 6400 Oak Hill Road, officiated by Rev. Mark Sirnic, with burial in Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Friday from 11:00 AM until service time at the church.
