

She graduated from Norris City High School and Lockyear Business College in Evansville. During WWII she was a secretary at Chrysler Ordinance. In 1942 she joined her husband, J.B. where he was stationed at Warner Robbins Air Force Base and later in Florence, SC. In December 1943, J.B. was ordered to the European Theatre. Doris returned to Evansville and was a secretary at Republic Aviation. She was a member of Zoar United Church of Christ.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, J.B. Cox.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Joanie) and Robert (Debbie) Cox; grandchildren, Amy, Audrey, Brockett, Erin and Andrew; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Alexander Memorial Park Chapel of Remembrance, officiated by Rev. John Motz, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel.
