Doris Turpin passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021 at home surrounded by family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was caring, humble, and lived with unmatched selflessness. She was deeply loved and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Doris was born August 5th to the late Walter and Catherine (Balbach) Keck on the family homestead during the historically hot summer of 1936. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and attended school. Later she graduated from Reitz High School in 1954 where she was crowned football homecoming queen.
During the course of her life she worked at Permanent Savings & Loan, assisted in starting the family business (Dyna-Kleen Services, Inc.), owned and operated the Outpost (Hornville Tavern), worked at the Thrifty Nickel (Evansville & Nashville, TN), and then served as custodian for her church for over 20 years.
She devoted her life to raising her family and most enjoyed any activity that brought everyone together for a celebration or family meal. She was an excellent cook!
