

She was a founding member of Nativity Catholic Church. She worked at the Shipyards as a welder and was known by her family as “Rosie the Riveter.” She was General Manager of the family business, Tri-State Asphalt. She also worked at Deters Jewelry, Kruckemeyer & Cohn, and Woolco Department Store, where she was General Manager of the Jewelry Department. At the age of 56 she went back to college and then worked for the City of Evansville in the Department of Metropolitan Development and retired from the Police Department after 18 years of service. She loved writing poetry and had published several poems.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; and daughter, Terri Sue Morrison.
She is survived by her son, David Fine of Orlando, FL; daughter, Pamela Barlow of Port St. John, FL; son, Thomas Fine; daughter, Rita France, both of Evansville; daughter, Sandra Burkett of Port St. John, FL; daughter, Angela Lee of Evansville; grandchildren, Shannon Kaye, Shaun Hall, Jeffrey Fine, Michael and Sarah Fine, Adrian and Alex France, Brandon Burkett, Jamie and Samantha Barlow, Jenna and Carson Lee; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Nativity Catholic Church, 3635 Pollack Avenue, officiated by Rev. Henry Kuykendall with entombment at Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
