

Dr. Gerald “Jerry” Thomas Jessee, born on October 30, 1937 in Richland, Indiana to loving parents Tommy and Alma Grace Jessee, peacefully passed away November 1, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication.
Gerald's academic journey was marked by excellence, as he graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Education. His thirst for knowledge led him to achieve a Master's and a Ph.D. in School Psychology. Throughout his life, he channeled his expertise into helping others, particularly children and young adolescents, through his roles as a school psychologist for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation and in his private practice. As a founding instructor with the University of Southern Indiana, Gerald's influence extended far and wide. He shared his wisdom with countless students during his many years of teaching.
In matters of the heart, Gerald was married to, Sarah Jane (Winters) Jessee, and together they raised two children, Tamara (Jessee) Wallace and Jeffrey Jessee. Jerry cherished his family deeply and now reunited with his parents, wife, and son in eternal peace. Gerald's legacy lives on through his daughter, Tamara Wallace and four grandchildren, Andrew Wallace, Steven Wallace, Alexander Jessee, and Benjamin Jessee, as well as great- grandchildren, Evan Wallace and Waylon Jessee.
Beyond his professional achievements, Gerald was a devoted son, father, husband, and friend. His genuine care for people is evident in the lasting connections he maintained with many of his former patients. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was hunting, fishing, playing golf, spending time with family, or enjoying lunch with dear friends. Jerry also served the community he loved with over 50 yrs of service thru the West Side Nut Club and many hours helping at the West Side Food Pantry.
Dr. Gerald Thomas Jessee's life had profound impact, kindness, and warmth. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN officiated by Pastor Kenny Armitage followed by burial at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit on Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
