He retired from CSX Railroad as a locomotive engineer and was a member of VFW Post #1114, Amvets, and Riverbend Association. He was also an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast.
Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Ivan S. Stewart; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Helen “Diana” (Brown) McCarthy; children, Benjamin Lee McCarthy of Evansville, IN and Jessica Ann McCarthy of Louisville, KY; grandchild, Evan M. McCarthy; siblings, Elizabeth Ann (Stewart) Callis (Jerry W.) of New Harmony, IN and Mary Ellen (Stewart) Skinner of Evansville, IN.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Alexander Memorial Park, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel.
