Edwin W. Bosecker

Edwin W. Bosecker, 99, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Deaconess Hospice. Edwin was an active member of St. Paul’s U.C.C. German Township and was a faithful follower of Christ. He was a German Township prize winning swine and grain farmer and also measured fields for the ASCS. His excellent work ethic showed in his farming, gardening and life. He was a Private First Class in the 8th Army Division at Fort Knox, KY, where he was an electricity instructor during WWII. He enjoyed his many friends as a member of the Vanderburgh County Farm Bureau, the Darmstadt Retirees, the American Legion Funkhouser Post #8 and as an avid dancer at the Order of Owls, Nest No. 30 until his death.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lena Bosecker; sister, Lillian Scherer; wives, Irma Seibert Bosecker, Alice Rueger Bosecker, Rosemary Schmitt Bosecker; and special friend, Rosalee Simpkins.

He was a loving father and is survived by his daughters, Carol Riggs (Lee) and Linda Deig (Craig), both of Evansville; grandsons, Todd Riggs (Shawna), Mark Riggs (Rachel), Brian Riggs (Chanda), Wesley Deig (B.J.), Aaron Deig (girlfriend, Barbara Dunville); ten great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He is also survived by step-children, Shirley Schenk, Sharon Deer (David), Donna Winderlich (Rudy), Bill Schmitt (Sue), John Schmitt (Judy), Earlene Hayworth (Gordon) and Linda Stilwell (Greg).

The family would like to thank the staff of Deaconess Hospice and Deaconess Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.

Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Dan Sather, with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit, Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Thursday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
