She was hired by Sister Sophie at Deaconess Hospital where she worked for 49 years. She started out by washing dishes but worked hard and later became an EKG technician.
Elizabeth loved her work and the people she worked with; she was known very well by those at Deaconess Hospital.
She leaves behind a daughter, Beth Ann Grimes Arp (Virgil Clayton Arp); two grandchildren, Amy Leffler and Clayton Matthew Arp; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Leffler, Alexander Leffler, and Ava Rose Arp; nephews, Sam Phillips and Jim Phillips; nieces, Debbie Phillips and Dr. Nancy Phillips; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Ann Phillips. She will be remembered for her love for her family.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mabel Phillips; brothers, James Phillips and Bob Phillips; and her loving husband, Charles Lee Grimes.
Her daughter Beth has cared for her for the last 8 years along with round the clock care, due to her struggle with dementia. Elizabeth had many faithful and loving caregivers over the years. She fought hard and is now at rest We will see her again on the other side.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Alexander East Chapel. Friends can visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
