Elizabeth "Betty" Sue Montgomery

Elizabeth “Betty” S. Montgomery, 88, of Evansville, born June 2, 1927, to the late James and Susie Granderson, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on December 31, 2015 at 3pm surrounded by her family. Betty was loved by many and never met a stranger.

Betty graduated from Reitz High School and worked for many years at Mac’s Famous BBQ. She retired twice from Prairie Farms Dairy. She made friends wherever she went.

Betty attended Forrest Hills Wesleyan Church Dinners. She loved the Lord and all his blessings. She loved to cook, dance, sing, play the banjo, piano, bargain hunt and collect things (lots of things!) and she was a wonderful artist. She continued to take many classes on different subjects until a few years ago. She had the gift of hospitality and loved to entertain.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Park Yee Ko and James Montgomery, Sr., her parents, her brothers, Jimmy, Bake, Billy, Donald, Wayne, George Granderson and grandsons Tony Joe Montgomery and Michael Mofield, along with many friends who passed before her.

Betty is survived by her sister, Stella and Herb Weatherford; brother, Russell and Shirley Granderson; children, Ray and Sue Ko, Sandra Ko, Karen and Charlie Seltzer, Jim and Barbara Montgomery, and Tony and Pam Montgomery; grandchildren, Sarah and Bill Summers, Julie and John Kremer, Danny Ko, Lucas and Kristin Seltzer, Libby and Matt Treado, Ian Higginbotham, Ryan and Michelle Montgomery, Nolan and Dawn Montgomery, Tracy and Josh Cypers, and Christopher Montgomery; great grandchildren, Lindsey, McKenzie, Cannon, Alison, Jarred, Kaitlyn, Brock, Jadelyn, Austin, Murphy, Bennett, Mia, Eli, and Emi; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 4, 2016, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Michael Stoelting, with burial following at Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 9:00 AM to service time at the funeral home.
