

Elizabeth (Hart) Schnell, 94, of Evansville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 23, 2012, at 8:10 AM. She was born November 8, 1917, in Owensboro, KY to the late Arthur and Edith Hart.
She was a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who dearly loved her family and God, and served them in every way possible. What a blessing she was to so many lives she touched throughout her lifetime.
Elizabeth was the last surviving charter member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church since 1959. She taught Sunday school for 33 years, worked and taught in vacation Bible school and sang in the choir until 2007. She was active in the Young at Hearts group and also visited shut-in church members in their homes or nursing home. She was a volunteer at Deaconess Hospital from 2000-2007. She worked at White Swan Laundry, in the cafeteria at Fairlawn School and at Seaton Manor. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, working with her flowers, walking and exercising.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clemens Joseph Schnell, who passed away in January 1993; parents, Edith and Arthur Hart; sisters, Rosetta Walters, Arlene Randolph, Elnora Edwards and Gladys McDonald; and brother, Charles Hart.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Joan Schauss (Ron) of Evansville, whom she lived with, and Martha Sanders (Joe) of Bartlett, TN; grandsons, Daron Schauss (Amy), Chad Schauss (fiancé, Brittney Amos), both of Evansville, and Adam Sanders of Bartlett, TN; two great-grandchildren, Caden and Madison Schauss; brothers, Rev. Jesse Hart (Martha) of Montgomery, TX, Arthur Hart (Neta) of Evansville and Frank Hart of Wigham, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 26, 2012, at Vann Avenue Baptist Church, 2608 South Vann Avenue, officiated by Rev. Jesse Hart and Rev. Eric Martin, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 1:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vann Avenue Baptist Church or Deaconess Hospice.
