Esther was born in Evansville, Indiana on March 24, 1928 to the late Anton F. Bergner and Mabel (Clark) Bergner. She had been employed by Edwards Manufacturing as a bookkeeper until her retirement at 65. Esther was a member of Trinity Lutheran in Evansville.
Esther is survived by her sons, Michael A. Elder of Du Quoin, IL and Samuel T. Elder (Sherry) of Evansville; sister, Janet (Bergner) Danks; grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Abby, Samuel; Danielle, and Katie, and seven great-grandchildren.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Samuel Elder, and her parents.
A private family service will be held, with burial to follow at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery.
