

Evelyn Katherine Fehd, 93, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday morning, September 18, 2013, at Good Samaritan Home. She was born May 28, 1920, in Evansville, to the late Henry and Alma (Weinsheimer) Schiffer.
She graduated in 1938 from Bosse High School. She aspired to attend nursing school and was a waitress at the Old McCurdy Hotel. She met her late her husband, Edwin, at local dances, such as those held at Stevenson Station, and was married on April 20, 1940. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ. During the war years (1942-1943) she was a “hardworking Rosie” at Republic Aviation helping to assemble the P-47 Thunderbolt. In 1951, her late husband, Edwin, built their house at 5401 Oak Hill Road and Evelyn made it into a home for them and their three sons for almost 50 years. During their college years, she was a top producer for Avon Cosmetics for 18 years and was later promoted to District Manager. In 2000, she and Edwin moved to Lakeside Manor where she resided until April 20, 2011.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Edwin Fehd.
She is survived by her brother, Edgar Schiffer, of Evansville; and sons, Gary Fehd, of Hamburg, MI, Don Fehd, of Ouray, CO, and Larry Fehd, of Austin, TX; three grandchildren, Brian Fehd, of New York, NY, Laura Fehd, of Austin, TX, and Ellie Fehd, of Chicago, IL; and great-grandson, Theodore Edwin Fehd, of New York, NY.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Reverend Mark Sirnic, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
